About the Recipe
Easily customizable with your favorite spices, perfect for kids and adults alike. Trust me, once you experience this Sliver and Bite original you won’t visit the freeze section again. Also new technique unlocked “velveting” it will change the way you cook!
Ingredients
700g chicken breast
1 tbsp baking soda
2 cups panko crumbs
1/2 cup finely grated parmesan cheese
1/2 tsp sweet paprika
1 tbsp sesame seeds
3 eggs (whisked)
1 cup flour
4 cups vegetable oil (or oil of your choice) to shallow fry
Method
1. Dice chicken into desired size, best is 3cm x 3cm so the nuggets remain moist.
2. (velveting) once diced place in a bowl and sprinkle baking soda over the chicken and mix. Cover and test to side for 20 minutes.
3. Set-up your oil in a fry-pan and your coating station along with the utensils to safely cook your nuggets.
4. after 20 min drown your chicken in water and rinse off with cold water and dab dry with paper towel or tea towel.
5. First coat a piece of chicken in the flour, then the egg wash then fully cover with the panko mixture.
6. Gently lower chicken nuggets into the 160°c oil, lower into the oil with a heat proof utensil so you aren’t splashed. Cook until golden brown or approx. 3 min.
7. Flip and do the same, try not to turn the nugget over and re-submerge and transfer to a wire rack to drip excess oil.
8. Once you have cooked all your nuggets place in the oven at approx. 120° to cook just a little more to ensure you have cooked the nuggets all the way through.
Dunk into your favourite sauce and enjoy a tasty snack.
